Intoweb Marketing provides a web analytics tool for every website hosted with us. It enables our clients to track and monitor web traffic and activity on their sites. The information below will help you interpret the statistics.

Unique visitors

To count as a unique visitor, the user must have clicked at least once a page of your website. Clicks thereafter will not count. The unique visitor is only recorded once and any other clicks made by the visitor will not be considered. It thus refers to a first time visit to your site.

Return visitors

A person returning to your website will be counted as a return visitor. The whole session counts as a visit. All the page clicks made by the visitor fall under one return visit.

Visits

Visits refer to an IP address (thus computer address used by a user) that visited the site. All clicks by a specific visitor are included in one visit. Visits include unique and return visits. One visitor can for example, click on several links and visit more than one page of the website. If a visitor from the same IP address returns within an hour, the subsequent visit will not be logged.

Duration of the session

It is normally indicated as less than 30 seconds, 1, 2, 3 or 5 minutes, 15 minutes, half an hour, more than an hour etc. It provides an indication of how long a visitor stayed and browsed through your website. It is also possible to see how long a visitor stayed at a particular page of the website.

Entry page

It refers to the page where the visitor entered your website. It can be the main or index page, products and services etc.

Exit page

Bandwidth

It refers to the number of bytes downloaded while on a particular page and the whole website for the specific session.

File type

It is possible to view what file type received a hit. It can for example, be an image or text file. It indicates whether it is dynamic content or a static page. This makes it possible to track specific responses and product views.

Spiders or robots

The spiders are the programs used by the search engines to index the pages of your website. Visits by spiders are also recorded separately to distinguish spiders from other IP addresses.

Browsers

The browser is the program used to view files or sites on the Internet. It thus refers to the program such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla, or Safari. The information can be used to adapt the design to cater for the variety of browsers used.

Operating Systems

The operating system is the platform utilized by the visitor for example, Windows or Linux.

Hosts

The host refers to the IP address where the visit originated from. With this information, you can track users of the site.

Country

It refers to the country from where the visits came.

Links from external pages

It refers to sites from where users entered your site.

Direct hits

Direct hits refer to the typing of your URL in the web address space. It is thus when the user came directly to the site and not from a link.

Hits refer to every click made during a visit or session.

Links from a Newsgroup

It refers to visits that came through links at a newsgroup.

Links from search engines

Add to favourites

It is an estimate of the number of visitors that bookmarked the website for later return. It is an indication of how useful a visitor found the page.

You can also see monthly, weekly, daily and hourly visits. This is extremely useful in detecting a decrease or increase in visits and when the users visit the site. It can also be used to schedule maintenance of the site for a time when the least number of visits occur.
